About Sweden Creek Falls

Sweden Creek Falls is a 81-foot plunge in Arkansas, on Sweden Creek.

It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.

Plungeworthy rates Sweden Creek Falls 7.5/10 — worth the drive. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.

What you'll find

An 80-foot plunge (the state's Natural Heritage Commission says 80, others 81 — eighth-tallest in Arkansas) into a sandstone canyon cut through the Boston Mountains.

The 136-acre natural area wraps the falls in glades, dry woodland, bluffs, and mesic hardwood forest; the trail splits partway so you can stand at the top and at the base.

The base is the money view — the full drop against the canyon walls. The top looks out over the valley the creek carved.

When to go

Rain-dependent — spring and post-storm visits get the real waterfall; late summer can be a dribble.

A quieter alternative to the Buffalo's headline falls, though the small lot fills on nice weekends.

Hunting is allowed in season under the WMA overlay — wear blaze orange during firearms deer season.

Before you go

The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
