About Anderson Falls

Anderson Falls is a 14-foot block in Indiana, on Fall Fork.

It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.

Plungeworthy rates Anderson Falls 5.7/10 — worth a detour. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.

What you'll find

Anderson Falls is a 14-foot, hundred-foot-wide curtain on Fall Fork — hard Louisville Limestone over soft Waldron Shale, the textbook recipe for a wide ledge falls — in a 44-acre county nature preserve near Hartsville.

It's run by the Bartholomew County parks department, free, and quietly one of the best small waterfalls in the state when the creek runs.

The catch: the one-mile loop requires fording the creek — there's no bridge — so reaching the best viewing side means wet feet, and high water can make the crossing a bad idea.

Before you go

The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
