What you'll find

Sixty feet of Section Creek sliding toward Chapel Lake through maple upland — the opening act of Pictured Rocks' most beloved hike. Keep walking past the falls and Chapel Rock and Lake Superior wait 1.8 miles on.

Getting there

Trailhead: Chapel trailhead, end of Chapel Road, 20 miles northeast of Munising
Parking: Lot fills by 9am in summer — early is the only strategy
Road: H-58 paved, then 5 rough backcountry miles of Chapel Road (closed to cars December–March)
Hike: 2.4 mi round trip (moderate — old roadbed with small hills)
Heads up: Vault toilet, no water. The full Chapel Loop (falls, rock, beach, cliffs) is the UP's best day.

When to go

Spring and early summer for flow, fall for the maple show.
