About Clark Creek Falls
Clark Creek Falls is a 40-foot horsetail in Mississippi, on Clark Creek.
It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.
Plungeworthy rates Clark Creek Falls 6.3/10 — worth a detour. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.
What you'll find
Mississippi's only true waterfall destination: Clark Creek Natural Area outside Woodville, 700 acres of steep loess bluffs cut by roughly 50 named and unnamed falls, the tallest around 30 feet. The most-photographed drop, First Falls, sits nearest the trailhead.
Two trails: the improved loop at about 1.75 miles (~2 hours), and the primitive route at 2.6 miles (3-5 hours) that sees the most falls — repeated creek crossings and steep muddy bluff climbs, genuinely strenuous by Mississippi standards.
Day-use fee is $2/person on the honor system — bring $1 bills. Parking fills on nice weekends.

When to go
Best after several days of rain — winter into spring is the wet season; flow thins by late summer.
Summer is hot and humid with heavy mosquito and tick activity, and there's no water available on trail.
The natural area itself is day-use and closed to hunting; expect hunting activity on surrounding land in fall.

Before you go
The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
