About Falling Springs Falls
Falling Springs Falls is a 20-foot plunge in Missouri, on Falling Springs.
It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.
Plungeworthy rates Falling Springs Falls 5.6/10 — worth a detour. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.
What you'll find
Water pours out of a cave mouth in a bluff face, 13-15 feet above a spring pond, and falls straight into it — a waterfall with no creek above it, just the Ozark aquifer.
The mill below it (built 1927-29, one of the region's youngest) once ground corn, sawed shingles, and made electricity off the spring's flow; the log cabin on site was raised by homesteaders in 1851.
Now it's a quiet Forest Service picnic area: tables, pedestal grills, the pond, the mill, the falls. No potable water.
Getting there

When to go
Spring-fed — it flows year-round while the rain-fed falls on this list wait for storms.
Spring and fall bring the best light and foliage on the mill pond; summer brings the picnic crowd.

Before you go
The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
