About Twenty Six Foot Drop
Twenty Six Foot Drop is a dam in Nevada, on V Line Canal.
Fed largely by snowmelt, it runs hardest in late spring and early summer and can thin to a trickle by late season.
Plungeworthy rates Twenty Six Foot Drop 4.1/10 — if you're passing. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.
What you'll find
A genuine 26-foot drop — of irrigation water. This is a drop structure and small hydroelectric plant on the V-Line Canal near Fallon, part of the Newlands Project, the 1903 federal irrigation scheme that turned Carson and Truckee River water into Fallon farmland.
It's an engineering curiosity, not a waterfall hike: flow is whatever the irrigation district is running, and the access road is reported closed at a cattle crossing before the drop. We list it to explain what it is, not to send you there.

Before you go
The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
