Heads up: Rim trails climb 400 feet for the aerial view; the roadside overlook on Taughannock Park Road needs no walk at all.

When to go

Spring melt for maximum thunder; winter partially freezes it into sculpture. The swim area (in the lake, not the falls) runs late June to Labor Day.
