What you'll find
Know what this listing is: Hindostan Falls is not a plunge waterfall — it's a low limestone ledge in the East Fork White River, maybe three feet at low water — and it's the site of one of Indiana's eeriest stories. The town of Hindostan, Martin County's original county seat, stood here until disease epidemics erased it by 1853.
What remains: a 134-acre public fishing area, square drill-holes in the flat riverside rock where a mill once stood, pioneer cemeteries, and a restored church nearby. You can drive onto the flat rock shelf by the river.
Come for the ghost town and the fishing, not for falling water. As a waterfall it's honest to say there isn't one.
