Plungeworthy rates Bourbon Lake Falls 7/10 — worth the drive. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.
What you'll find
A 20-to-30-foot spillway falls on Wolfpen Creek below Bourbon State Fishing Lake — one of the tallest drops in eastern Kansas, with one of the best effort-to-falls ratios anywhere in the state.
Park on the road just north of the falls and walk about a tenth of a mile to the base. Worth doing both views: the base, and the walk up top looking down.
Spillway physics apply: spectacular after heavy spring rain, a trickle in dry spells.

Before you go
The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
