About Cherry Creek Falls

Cherry Creek Falls is a 3-foot waterfall in Kansas, on Cherry Creek.

It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.

Plungeworthy rates Cherry Creek Falls 3.8/10 — one for the list. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.

What you'll find

A natural rock ledge where Clem Road fords Cherry Creek a few miles southeast of Oswego — the road itself crosses the falls. About 3 feet, and unlike most Kansas falls it rarely runs dry, because it's a creek crossing rather than a spillway.

This is a roadside curiosity, not a park: no trailhead, no parking area, no managed site. The land off the road right-of-way isn't documented as public — see it from the crossing.

After heavy rain the ford can flood over and become dangerous; there's no depth gauge.

Getting there

Warnings
The crossing floods and becomes impassable after heavy rain — one November account found it overflowing and unsafe.

Before you go

The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
