About Kisatchie Falls
Kisatchie Falls is a block in Louisiana, on Kisatchie Bayou.
It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.
Plungeworthy rates Kisatchie Falls 4.6/10 — if you're passing. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.
What you'll find
Not a true waterfall — lidar puts the drop under 3 feet, and the World Waterfall Database formally disqualifies it as “a small rapid or shoal.” What it actually is: a set of sliding Class II rapids and a sandy-bottomed swimming hole on Kisatchie Bayou, and one of the most-loved water stops in the national forest.
The swimming-hole scenes in the 1991 film The Man in the Moon were shot here.

Before you go
The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
