About Bass Lake Falls

Bass Lake Falls is a waterfall in New Jersey, on Blair Creek.

It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.

Plungeworthy rates Bass Lake Falls 3/10 — one for the list. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.

What you'll find

Know what this listing is: Bass Lake Falls is a real 40-foot waterfall on Blair Creek north of Blairstown — a century-old postcard advertised it at exactly that height — but it sits on the campus of the Princeton-Blairstown Center, a private nonprofit outdoor-education camp that runs a small hydro generator at the base of the dam.

This is not the same land as the public Blair Creek Preserve a few miles north — that preserve doesn't reach the falls.

One hiking aggregator lists it as a free 0.1-mile walk. That's boilerplate, and it's wrong; the coordinates land on the camp's private entrance. We don't publish directions onto private land.
