About Albion Falls
Albion Falls is a waterfall in Rhode Island, on Blackstone River.
It's fullest after rain, and flow can drop off during dry spells — plan around recent weather.
Plungeworthy rates Albion Falls 3.5/10 — one for the list. The score weighs its scale, how confidently it's mapped, and its character.
What you'll find
Albion Falls is a roughly 20-foot manmade cascade where the Blackstone River pours over the 1916 Albion Dam in the mill village of Albion, Lincoln. The mill the dam powered is now condominiums; the falls is what's left of the working site.
A short informal path off the Blackstone River Greenway gets you close, and a wooden pedestrian bridge crosses the river with a straight-down view of the drop — worth knowing before you look if heights bother you.
It's the least developed of Rhode Island's mill falls: minimal signage, no dedicated parking, rocky footing near the water. That's most of its charm.
Getting there
- Trailhead
- Blackstone River Greenway at Albion village, near Albion Road off Route 122, Lincoln
- Parking
- No dedicated falls lot — street and general greenway parking
- Road
- Albion Road — paved
- Hike
- 0.6 mi round trip, 75 ft of climb (Easy, but rocky and uneven near the water)
- Heads up
- Part of Blackstone River State Park. Some sources say the '75 feet' figure floating around for this falls is the trail's elevation gain, not the drop — the falls is about 20 feet.
When to go
Any season at normal flows. Skip it at flood stage — high water here is fast and dangerous, not scenic.
Rules & fees
- Fee / pass
- Free — Rhode Island state parks charge no entry fee
- Dogs
- Leashed in the park generally; at least one guide reports dogs not permitted at the falls itself
- Warnings
- No swimming. Slippery rocks at the water's edge — wear real shoes.

Where it is
Before you go
The pin marks the feature, not a trailhead or a legal route in. Some sit on private land or need a real hike, and conditions change with season and rain. Check local access, don't trespass, and never enter water — hot or cold — where it isn't safe.
