What you'll find

Houston Brook Falls is a clean 32-foot drop into a swimming hole, reached by one of the shortest real hikes in this part of Maine — a well-worn but unmarked quarter-mile path just off the Old Canada Road Scenic Byway near Bingham. It's a quintessential swimming-hole waterfall: not dramatic in scale, but easy, cold, and welcoming on a hot day.

The setting is understated — a forested pull-off, a short walk, and then the falls open up with a pool right at the base. It has the low-key, locals'-spot feel that bigger-name falls have lost to crowds.

The key caveat is land status: this sits on private timberland that's currently open to public visitors as a courtesy, not a state park or public easement. The access exists because visitors haven't given the landowner a reason to end it.
